Desmond O'Hagan

Name: Desmond O’Hagan, PSA
Bio: O'Hagan was born in Wiesbaden, Germany, and was raised in the United States. He enjoys working in several mediums including watercolor, acrylics, charcoal, pen-and-ink, and monotypes; but his primary focus is pastels and oils. He is a Master Pastelist with the Pastel Society of America, and is listed in Who's Who in American Art and Who's Who in America. In May 2005, he was inducted into the International Association of Pastel Societies' "Master Circle".
Media: Pastel, oil, watercolour, acrylic, charcoal
Subjects: Figurative, landscape, cityscapes, interiors.
Style: His unique painting style has been evolving from a very young age and can be described as a style that enlists the viewer in the interpretation of details loosely portrayed. O’Hagan uses broad strokes with the side of the pastel to create an image that is impressionistic, almost cubist, but totally recognisable. This is a style that seems to inform his work in oil.
