John Roush

Name: John Roush, PSA
Bio: In the late 90's, John Roush accepted an early retirement option from his employer and began an accelerated self-guided study of art. Within two years he was showing at regional art festivals and teaching from his home studio and a local gallery. His training regimen consisted of reading, attending workshops, and producing hundreds of original paintings.
His entry in the first Pastel Journal magazine competition won the First Place award for landscape. He has since won another First Place and six Finalist awards in the Pastel 100. The Pastel Journal has produced two feature articles on the artist and his work, in January/February 2006 and again in January/February 2010. In 2000 he was granted signature status in the Pastel Society of America on his first application for membership. He was elected a Master Pastelist in 2005.
Media: Pastel, oil
Subjects: Landscape.
Style: Representational.
Navigation: Main menu remains available at top of page except in gallery pages.
Gallery: East; West; Archive. (John was born in Kansas and regularly travels back there to paint and gather reference photos for his studio paintings. His Midwest portfolio is supplemented with paintings of Maine and its islands.) It would add to the website if the paintings were filed by medium within the galleries, as there are only two choices - oil and pastel.
Image View: Each thumbnail opens as an enlargement in a new window, where dimension and medium are stated. There is a back button to the gallery. Of course you can always right-click the thumbnail and open in a new window/tab thus maintaining the gallery page available. The enlargement can be saved. I used Clothes Pin Bag (9x13 ins) as it reminds me of Andrew Wyeth, who also painted on Monhegan.
Demo: No
Blog/EBay/Flickr: No.
